Why does 304 stainless steel screw have magnetism and how to degaussing?

Why does 304 Stainless steel screw have magnetism?

1. Because the molecule arrangement of stainless steel after cold upsetting and cold rolling will change and cause micro-magnetism, but this is only physical and chemical. Generally, the larger the deformation, the stronger the magnetism will be.

2. 304 stainless steel is a common material in stainless steel. Its density is 7.93 g/cm3. It is also called 18/8 stainless steel in the industry. It has good heat resistance and high toughness. It is widely used in industry, furniture decoration industry and food and medical industry.

3. 304 Stainless steel screw is a kind of Universal Stainless steel. It is widely used to make equipment and parts requiring good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability). In order to maintain the inherent corrosion resistance of stainless steel, steel must contain more than 18% chromium and more than 8% nickel. 304 stainless steel is a brand of stainless steel produced according to ASTM standard in the United States.

Why do 304 Stainless steel screw need solid solution treatment?

In general, 304 is degaussing by solid solution. After solid solution, the mechanical properties will change greatly. Our company found that the tensile strength decreased from 700 to 350 Mpa, and the bolt was not easy to be broken, but was elongated by tensile testing machine. But the magnetism disappeared completely. Therefore, the solid solution process can be used where the magnetic requirement is relatively high and the tensile strength requirement is not high.
