Cold Heading

Screw heads are formed by cold heading—pressing wire into shape in one or multiple dies. Cold heading suits mass production with high material yield and good mechanical properties; head shape and recess are set by tooling. Multi-station headers cut, pre-form, finish-form and broach recesses with stable sizing.

Die design and maintenance determine accuracy; dies are inspected and replaced on schedule to keep head diameter, recess depth and length stable. New dies require first-article approval before mass runs.

Thread Rolling and Control

Threads are formed by flat-die rolling or thread rolling: flat-die rolling is fast with smooth surfaces for batches; rolling raises strength for high-grade bolts. Thread accuracy is held to grade and checked with go/no-go gauges.

Die condition affects thread form and appearance; pitch diameter, form and surface are sampled per batch to prevent cross-threading and burrs, blocking nonconforming threads before packing.

Heat Treatment and Finishing

High-strength parts are quenched and tempered to spec, controlled by hardness checks and batch records. Finishing per customer covers zinc, nickel, dacromet and phosphating, with de-embrittlement after plating to reduce hydrogen risk.

Finishing runs at partner platers; Jiali handles incoming checks, process follow-up and finished sampling for coating thickness, adhesion and salt spray. Different finishes suit different corrosion classes by environment.

Inspection and Quality Control

QC covers incoming, in-process and final inspection. Incoming checks verify wire material certificates and dimensions; in-process uses first-article and patrol checks; final covers dimensions, threads, hardness, tensile and salt spray, with reports on key batches.

Gauges are calibrated on schedule and records filed per batch for full traceability from wire to product, supporting issue investigation and audits. Quantity, packaging and documents are verified before shipment.
